Today, at the 48th session of the Working Group of the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council, Slovenia presented the state of human rights in Slovenia within the framework of the 4th round of the Universal Periodic Review. The Slovenian delegation, which included representatives of several ministries and government offices, was led by Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon.

Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Slovenia will host The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) 2023 Global Access to Justice Roundtable that will take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 6th till 8th of December 2023.

At the invitation of the Latvian Minister of Justice and the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Slovenia's Minister of Justice Dominika Švarc Pipan attended the Conference of Ministers of Justice of the Council of Europe in Riga. The aim of the discussion is to support the reforms of the Ukrainian justice system and the restoration of the international legal order by ensuring the full responsibility of the Russian Federation for its aggression against Ukraine.

Response to the European Commission’s Fourth Rule of Law Report on the Rule of Law Situation in Slovenia in 2023
“The European Commission’s Fourth Annual Rule of Law Report on the Rule of Law Situation in EU Member States in 2023 shows that Slovenia has made progress in almost all areas. Nevertheless, we will continue to work actively to improve the rule of law and to take into account new recommendations,” said Minister Tanja Fajon, State Secretary, Dr Igor Šoltes, Minister Asta Vrečko, and Minister Boštjan Pokuklar at the publication of the report.

The Minister of Justice emphasises the protection of children in criminal proceedings at the MLA diplomatic conference
At the opening of the MLA diplomatic conference, Minister of Justice dr Dominika Švarc Pipan emphasised that states and the international community are responsible for establishing interstate mechanisms for the investigation and prosecution of international crimes, and drew attention to the protection of children in these proceedings. During the conference, representatives of the Ministry of Justice are to actively participate in the negotiation process.

Law addressing issues related to offence procedures in the COVID-19 period sent for coordination
The Ministry of Justice today sent for coordination the draft Act on the regulation of certain issues related to offences committed during the period of the COVID-19 measures.
